Minus Tjeenk Willink and Sander Weijnen Enter Double Handed World Championship

SCHEVENINGEN – The entry list for the 2026 ORC Double Handed World Championship has gained a notable local contender, as Minus and Sander officially register for the event.

While Minus is primarily campaigning this season with Erik, this specific championship represents a one-off collaboration with Sander. The pair will compete on their home waters in Scheveningen from May 18–25, facing off against an elite international field during the North Sea Regatta.

A High-Intensity Challenge

For Minus, the World Championship serves as a high-pressure tactical bridge between his spring shakedown races and the longer offshore miles scheduled for later this summer. Unlike the marathon distances of the August circuit, the Worlds demand peak performance across a mix of short and long offshore courses.

Event Highlights:

  • Dates: May 18–25, 2026
  • Location: Jachtclub Scheveningen
  • Format: Integrated offshore racing within the North Sea Regatta.

Strategic Collaboration

Teaming up with Sander allows for a fresh tactical perspective during one of the season’s most competitive windows. The duo will look to leverage their deep understanding of the North Sea’s tidal patterns and shifting sandbanks to gain an edge over the visiting fleet.

“Competing in the Worlds at home is an opportunity we couldn’t miss,” the team noted. “It’s a different dynamic for this specific trophy, and it keeps the intensity high as we continue to optimize the boat for the full 2026 season.”

With the registration confirmed, the focus now shifts to final measurements and tuning as the team prepares for a busy month of May on the North Sea.
